1. Agreement
By registering, submitting a hang, accessing the Athlete Portal, or participating in any World Dead Hang Championship ("WDHC") activity, you ("Participant") agree to this Waiver on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, your minor child. Electronic acceptance through the Athlete Portal or submission flow counts as a binding signature.
2. Assumption of Risk
You understand dead hang and grip endurance activities involve inherent risks including shoulder instability or injury (including in hypermobile individuals), elbow and wrist strain, finger and grip soft-tissue injury, muscle fatigue, falls from a bar or rig, contact with equipment or the ground, dehydration, lightheadedness, and aggravation of pre-existing medical conditions. You voluntarily assume all such risks whether training at home, submitting video online, or competing at a live event.
3. Fitness & Medical
You represent that you are physically fit to participate, have consulted a physician if you have shoulder, cardiac, pregnancy-related, or other relevant concerns, and will not attempt maximal hangs when injured, fatigued, or without adequate supervision where required. 4. Virtual Submissions
When you film and submit a hang online, you are solely responsible for your environment: bar security, landing zone, timer visibility per the Rulebook, and safe dismount. WDHC does not supervise your session remotely. You accept the same risks and release terms as for in-person participation. Minors must have valid parental or guardian consent on file before submission.
5. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release World Dead Hang Championship, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, judges, verifiers, sponsors, venue hosts, and affiliates ("Released Parties") from liability arising from your participation in WDHC activities, including online submissions, virtual championships, and sanctioned events, except where prohibited by law or caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct of Released Parties.
6. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Released Parties from claims brought by third parties arising from your participation, your submitted content, or your conduct.
7. Rules & Integrity
You agree to comply with the official Rulebook, Virtual Championship SOP (when competing in virtual title events), Competition Integrity Policy, and Code of Conduct. WDHC may disqualify submissions, withhold titles, or suspend participation for violations.
8. Media & Minors
Submission of hang video implies agreement to the Media & Video Release for leaderboard and promotional use unless you opt out where the portal provides that option. Athletes under 18 require parental or guardian consent; guardians accept this Waiver on the minor's behalf.
9. Emergency Medical
You consent to emergency medical treatment if needed at sanctioned live events. WDHC may require spotters, medical clearance, or withdrawal for safety. For serious injury at any time, call local emergency services (911 in the U.S.).
10. Governing Law
This Waiver is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where state law limits enforceability of releases.
11. Severability
If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.
