In-person events only. Applies to WDHC-branded gym nights, qualifiers, and live championships. Online submissions and virtual championships are governed separately by the Virtual Championship SOP, Participation Waiver, and Rulebook. World Dead Hang Championship LLC · Governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
1. Sanctioned Status
An event is WDHC sanctioned only when listed on gyms.html or championships.html, or confirmed in writing by WDHC. Unofficial hang gatherings using WDHC branding without approval violate the Trademark Notice.
2. Host Responsibilities
Partner gyms and venue hosts agree to:
- Provide a safe pull-up bar or rig meeting WDHC bar standards (1.25 in / 32 mm fixed bar; steel, powder coat, or light knurling; no tape, foam, or tacky coatings)
- Maintain venue insurance covering participant activity on their premises
- Ensure clear fall zones, adequate lighting, and visible timing for film review
- Designate an on-site contact for WDHC officials and emergency response
- Submit athlete hangs through the standard worlddeadhang.com submit flow (or event batch process when provided)
- Follow the Code of Conduct for staff, volunteers, and officials
3. Athlete Requirements at Live Events
- Completed Participation Waiver (digital click-wrap or signed paper copy)
- Minors: Parental / Guardian Consent on file
- Compliance with the official Rulebook and on-site official instructions
- Acceptance of spotter direction and withdrawal orders for safety
4. Divisions at Live Events
Until WDHC announces on-site weigh-in events, live competitions use Open Men and Open Women divisions matching virtual championship structure. When bodyweight classes are introduced for in-person finals or qualifiers, division assignment requires official weigh-in at the venue under procedures published for that event.
5. Officials & Verification
WDHC-appointed or trained verifiers review event footage under the Competition Integrity Policy. Live call times may be provisional until video verification completes. Final leaderboard placement follows verified submission approval.
6. Safety & Medical
Hosts must have a first-aid kit accessible and an emergency action plan. WDHC may require:
- Spotters for athletes attempting times above a host-defined threshold
- Medical clearance for athletes with disclosed shoulder or cardiac risk factors
- Immediate stop for injury, syncope, or equipment failure
See the Medical Disclaimer. WDHC does not provide on-site medical staff unless explicitly announced for a specific championship. For serious injury, call local emergency services (911 in the U.S.).
7. Insurance
Before regional qualifiers or annual live finals, WDHC will secure appropriate general liability and participant accident coverage or require proof from the venue. Gym partner nights rely on host venue insurance per the gym partner agreement.
8. Media & Recording
Event photography and video may be used for WDHC promotion per the Media Release. Athletes may opt out of non-submission promotional use via portal settings where available.
9. Cancellation & Force Majeure
WDHC may postpone or cancel sanctioned events for safety, weather, venue loss, or insufficient registration. Entry fees, if any, will be handled per the published refund policy for that event.
