1. Equipment Standards
-
The Regulation Bar
The attempt must be performed on a standard, smooth cylindrical pull-up bar with a diameter of 1.25 inches (32mm).
-
No Bar Adhesives
The bar must be bare steel or standard powder coat. No athletic tape, foam, or rubberized grips are permitted on the bar surface.
-
Chalk Policy
Both standard dry magnesium carbonate (block/powder) and liquid chalk are APPROVED. However, the use of rosin, pine tar, or any "tacky" grip aids containing adhesives is strictly prohibited.
2. The Performance
-
The Grip Style
Athletes must use an overhand (pronated) grip. Thumbs can be wrapped around the bar or kept on top (thumbless). Underhand or mixed grips are disqualified.
-
Full Extension
Arms must remain fully extended at the elbows for the duration of the hang. Slight engagement of the lats/scapula (Active Hang) is permitted and recommended, provided the elbows do not bend.
-
Zero Assistance
No lifting straps, gloves, or wrist wraps are permitted. The hands must make direct contact with the bar.
-
Vertical Hang
The athlete must hang freely. No cycling of the legs, "kipping," or resting the chin/body against the rig or uprights.
3. Video Verification
-
Unedited Footage
The video must be a single, continuous, unedited shot. Any cuts or speed adjustments will result in an immediate rejection.
-
Full Body Frame
The entire body (from the hands on the bar to the feet) must remain in the camera frame for the entire duration of the attempt.
-
The Start & Finish
the timer begins the moment the hands are on the bar and the feet leave the ground and stops the moment any part of the athlete (feet or hands) touches the ground or leaves the bar.
-
Tiered Verification System
To encourage participation, the WDHC uses a two-level verification system.
-
Standard Verification (Rookie & Contender Tiers): Submissions for these tiers do not require a caliper measurement of the bar or a close-up inspection for bar materials. The hang must simply be performed on a standard pull-up bar.
-
Pro-Level Verification (Pro, Elite, Legend & Freak Tiers): To be ranked in these highly competitive tiers, all video evidence rules must be strictly followed, including caliper measurement of the bar diameter and close-up footage to verify the bar is free of any prohibited materials.
ALIGNMENT: These standards are designed to align with Guinness World Record criteria to ensure all WDHC records are globally recognized.
